Apricot Flower ( By Gwangyang City Hall )
Every year in March, Gwangyang City Hall open to “Apricot Flower Festival” about “Apricot Flower” at the earliest time in the country. The festival is held in Seomjin village(Plum Village) of Seomjin-River and the bank of the Seomjin-Bridge. There was a festival attracts many tourists from all over the country since it started in 1997 in order to promote the high quality of the food for the plums and plums.
Apricot complex that was from a colony in Seomjin-River near Baekwoon-mountain area of 330,000 m2 is the best view of apricot in the country. That have been used as film locations in <Chihwaseon>, <Damo: The Legendary Police Woman>.
In addition, in early March, the festival is held on the theme of the sea in Jindo of Jeollanam-do. In this festival, everyone can see the sight of the road of 40meter width will be created, because the difference between the rise and fall of the tide has grown just after New Year’s full moon. In 1975, the French Ambassador to Korea Pierre Landy who witnessed the sight introduced the Korean version of Moses’s miracle in the French newspaper, this festival taking this opportunity to become known worldwide.
3월, 광양매화축제, 진도 바닷길 축제
매년 3월 전남 광양에서 열리는 매화축제는 매화를 주제로 한 행사로 전국에서 가장 이른시기에 개최되는 꽃축제다. 다압면 섬진강변의 섬진마을(매화마을)과 섬진교 둔치에서 열린다. 1997년 고품질의 매실과 매실식품을 널리 알리고 판매를 촉진하기 위해서 시작한 이래 전국에서 많은 관광객이 찾는 축제가 되었다.
섬진강변 백운산 자락의 약 33만m2지역에 군락을 이룬 매화단지는 전국에서 매화 경치로는 으뜸이다. 영화 <취화선>, <다모> 등 드라마나 영화의 촬영 장소로 사용되기도 했다.
또한, 3월 초에는 전남 진도에서 바다를 테마로 한 축제가 열린다. 이 축제에서는 정월대보름 직후 바다의 조차가 가장 커져 약 40m폭으로 길이 생기는 광경을 볼 수 있다. 지난 1975년 이 광경을 목격한 주한 프랑스 대사 피에르랑디가 프랑스 신문에 ‘한국판 모세의 기적’으로 소개해 세계적으로 알려지게 되었고, 1977년부터 축제로 발전시켰다.
