At the 66th Cannes Film Festival on May 20, Korean Film Council held reception of “Korean Film Night”, and over five hundred foreign celebrities were present.
The ceremony was attended by celebrities of three film festival in the world, such as Cannes Film Festival’s director of film department Christian Jeune, Cannes Critic’s Week’s artistic director Charles Tesson, Cannes market director Jerome Paillard, Venice Film Festival’s director Alberto Barbera , Berlin International Film Festival’s curator Christoph Terechte. And there are many foreign celebrities such as Chinese movie director Jia ZhangKe, France film distributor who import director Bong Joon-ho’s <Snowpiercer>, Arte broadcast’s director Olivier pere, and they interested about Korean film.
At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, unfortunately, Korean feature film was not invited. However, three short film of new directors were well received in the field. At the Korean Film Night, director Moon Byung-gon, who was invited Short Film Competition, and <The line>’s director Kim Su-jin, and director Han Eun-young of <Breathe Me>, which was invited in Critic’s Week, were introduced.
칸 국제영화제, ‘한국영화의 밤’ 개최
제66회 칸 국제영화제에서 영화진흥위원회는 현지 시간 5월 20일 밤, “한국영화의 밤” 리셉션을 개최하여 500여명의 해외 인사들이 참여했다.
이날 행사에는 칸 국제영화제 부집행위원장 크리스티앙 존느(Christian Jeune), 칸 비평가주간 샤를 테송 집행위원장, 칸 마켓 디렉터 제롬 빠야(Jerome Paillard), 비롯하여 베니스 국제영화제 알베르토 바르베라 집행위원장, 베를린 국제영화제 크리스토프 베르히트 프로그래머 등 세계 3대 영화제 인사들과 중국영화감독 지아장커, 최근 봉준호 감독의 <설국열차>를 수입한 프랑스 배급사 와일드 사이드 등의 주요 해외 배급사, 아르떼 방송사 영화부문 디렉터 올리비에 페레 등 해외 인사들이 대거 참석해 한국영화에 대한 관심과 애정을 표했다.
올해 칸 국제영화제에는 아쉽게도 초청된 한국 장편영화는 없었지만 세 편의 젊은 신진 감독들의 단편영화들이 현지에서 좋은 반응을 얻고 있다. 이날 한국영화의 밤 행사에서는 공식 단편경쟁부문에 로 초청받은 문병곤 감독과 학생영화부문 <선>의 김수진 감독, 칸 비평가주간에 초청받은 <울게 하소서>의 한은영 감독이 소개되어 주목을 끌었다.
