Director Park Hoon-jeong at Beaune International Thriller Film Festival by Next Entertainment World
The film ‘New World’, which has surpassed the 4.6 six million-viewer-mark, win the jury prize at the Beaune International Thriller Film Festival local time on April 7.
The 5th Film Festival is famous for genre film festival, which has a large influence in the box office, with ‘Fantastic Film Festival of Gerardmer’ of France. The festival showed over 50 movies this year. Of these, ‘New World’ was invited competition section with eight films, and the film won the jury prize through competition among foreign films. The competition section introduced work of directors, who have fresh views. And ‘New World’ won second place behind ‘Drug War(毒戰) of director Johnny To, who was famous for the king of noir film and made film ‘Election’, ‘Exiled’.
The festival has foremost laureates like director Pen-Ek Ratanaruang’s ‘Headshot’, which won the award in the last year. In the festival, director Park Hoon-jeong was pleased to won a prize he wasn’t expecting. In addition, the film distributor TF1 International, which was in charge distribution in France, was contented that release this summer in France. And the film distributor predicted that local audience’s expectations will be high for ‘New World’.
