In the first quarter of 2013, audience share by nationality by KOFIC

Korean Film Council(KOFIC) has announced the statistics of Korean movie industry in the first of quarter 2013. According to statistics, this is the second consecutive year that movie become a hit. <Man on the Edge (aka: The Gangster Shaman)>, which was released on early January, drew audience totaling 3,900,000 people and started attracting big audience. And success led to other movies like <Miracle in cell No.7>, which surpassed 10-million audience for the first time this year, and <The Berlin File>, which passed the 1 million viewers mark. Next, <New World> has attracted audience of 4.5 million. It has also brought hitting the 30 million-viewer-mark, after counting box-office of theater nationwide 2007, and total audience were over 50 million-viewer-mark.

In the first of quarter, the number of released Korean film was 37 and the audience over 1 million per movie. However, foreign film counted only 110,000 by increase of releases and decline of audience share. Most highly-anticipated film such as <Warm Bodies>, <A Good Day to Die Hard>, <Life of Pie> drew audience only one million per movie. And the animation movie released on vocation <Hotel Transylvania>, <Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters> was unsuccessful any of those.

New Entertainment World (NEW), which started on Small film distributor, market share show 33.9% and ‘NEW’ has the highest number of share by film distributor because biggest box-office as <Miracle in Cell No.7>, <New World>. Meanwhile, CJ E&M has been pushed down to the No. 2 spot without box office hit beside <The Berlin File> despite distribute 21 films.

2013년 1분기, 한국영화 점유율 69.4%

영진위가 2013년 1분기 한국영화산업 통계를 발표했다. 통계에 따르면, 2012년 이어서 올 1분기에도 한국영화의 흥행은 지속되었다. 1월초 개봉한 <박수건달>이 3백 9십만 명을 동원하며 흥행몰이를 시작하였고, 올해 첫번째 천만관객을 돌파한 영화 <7번방의 선물>과 7백만 관객을 넘긴 <베를린>의 흥행이 이어졌다. 뒤이어 <신세계>가 4백 5십만 명을 동원하고 있다. 이로 인해 2007년 전국 극장 관객수가 집계된 이후 최초로 한국영화 관객수가 3천만명을 돌파하였으며 전체영화 관객수도 5천만 명을 넘겼다.

1분기 한국영화 개봉편수는 총37편으로 편당 관객수가 백만명을 넘어섰지만, 외국영화는 개봉작수의 급증및 관객점유율 감소로 편당 관객수가 11만 명에 불과하였다. <웜 바디스>, <다이하드: 굿 데이 투 다이>, <라이프 오브 파이> 등의 기대작들도 백만명 관객 동원에 그쳤으며 방학시즌을 맞아 개봉한 <몬스터 호텔>, <헨젤과 그레텔:마녀사냥꾼> 등의 애니메이션 어느 한작품도 크게 성공하지 못했다.

중소배급사로 시작한 (주)넥스트엔터테인먼트월드(NEW)는 <7번방의 선물>과 <신세계> 등의 흥행작에 힘입어 1분기 점유율 33.9%를 나타내며 배급사별 점유율 1위를 기록하였다. 한편 씨제이앤엠 주식회사는 21편을 배급했음에도 <베를린>외에 큰 흥행작이 없어 2위로 하락하였다.
