Today, I attended first film premier after MovieScramble lunched. In premier, ‘Last Stand’ that Kim Jee-woon director’s Hollywood debut film was screened. Movie was hot and pleasant. It seemed to maintain director’s poetic(?) sensibility and unique style at the same time. The characters were also an individual, and personal touch of Arnold Schwarzenegger was good.

After the movie, director came out and received a few questions from reporters. But unlike traditionally accompanied the leading actor, Kim Jee-woon director was alone. Well, it is said that leading actor plans to greet at a later date. The reporter asked him about working in Hollywood than movie content. For example, ‘I know that was Hollywood’s love calls, but why did you choose the first piece to LAST STAND.’, ‘What do you think that the advantage of Kim Jee-woon director’s direction, not Hollywood director.’, and ‘How was gap between Hollywood system and Korean movie system.’

I was noting with the intention of posting on MovieScramble, and I just zoned out for a moment. Because of director’s final goodbye was “Please loves American movie so much.” In the spring of this year, for some reason, films that Korean director working in Hollywood show all at once. It is prominent that “Last Stand”, “Snowpiercer” of Joon-ho Bong director, “Stoker” of Chan-wook Park are. Suddenly, When various thoughts have not seen the film, I wonder whether like this films are Korean film or not. When there is no answer. Director Kim Jee-woon simplify in a word. He said “These movies are not Korean movie.”

Capital, actor, staff, movie script, etc. are belong to United States. So, of course, that is the American movie. The same is true of the emotion of the film, a view of the world and spirit in the movie. On the bright side, in fact, it is a proud boast. Going to Hollywood in poor countries still cannot believe. It is, of course, to be celebrated.

Nevertheless, I was strangely regretful that that movie said blah blah in English. In fact, after MovieScramble was launched, I realized that I was a big frog in a small pond. Because it was no other than language. Without Korean language, the cultural market would have died. In the country, “Naver” was named market leader of portal site. However, it is useless the moment that it go out of Korea. Anyway, I was unpleasant to watch the movie that being screened in English.

Finally, it was absence of communication that I feel sorrow in the global age. A primary cause of absence of communication, of course, was language. By the way, suddenly, I doubt that we should communicate each other. Well, that’s it for today.
