Review:
A third-year detective Yang Chun-dong is indifferent person, who also sell water purifiers on the side in multilevel marketing. One day, a little girl is kidnapped in the jurisdiction of detective Yang Chun-dong. He, who has an obsession about a kidnapping case, has trauma. He lost a brother when young. He became a detective is due to guilty, which he failed to keep his younger brother.
On night, Yang Chun-dong found a man, whom he was drawing graffiti illegally on the street, when he urinated on the street. His name was Kim Joon(Kim Beom). The man has the so-called ‘psycho-metry’ ability to see the past by touching someone or something with his right hand. Detective Yang Chun-dong realizes the crime scene is the same as the mysterious wall paper he saw once on the street. And detective starts tracking down the painter(Kim Joon). However, he turned out to be not the criminal, and the next victims is found in the meantime.
During the chase, detective came to know that Kim Joon has also trauma, which his mother was killed because of his ESP(psycho-metry), and they felt a sense of kinship uncannily. At this point, the movie tells criminal easily. This story’s main concern is not ‘Who is criminal?’, but ‘How to catch a criminal’.
Kim Joon who is became on the same team as detective show his ability, but this ability not free. If he uses the ability of ESP, he consumes a lot of energy and they receive an injury. (In the case of overuse ESP, he might bleed at the nose or faint.)
Two guys find out criminal and saved child’s life though his brushes with death. In this course, Kim Joon, who was under a curse, healed through realization, which his right hand is not to kill but to save. This movie has perfection as a proper entertainment. However, the movie tried to commercial compromise, which choose mixed comedy — comic relief — than thorough the genre, like the other Korean movie. Character of Yang Chun-dong(Kim Kang-woo) was well-suited to the movie unexpectedly. However, it was not good to the overissue of coincidence, and agony is also weak. This movie is fourth work of director Ho-young Kwon, who make usually horror genre such as <Parallel Life>, < Four Horror Tales – Hidden Floor>.

3년차 형사 양춘동(김강우)은 다단계업체에 취업해 정수기를 파는 부업을 하는 그저 그런 형사다. 이 양춘동이네 관할 구역에서 어린이 유괴사건이 발생한다. 어린이 유괴 사건에 집착하는 양춘동은 알고보면 트라우마가 있다. 어린 시절 동생을 잃은 것이다. 동생을 지키지 못했다는 자책감이 형사가 되게 한 것이다.
양춘동은 어느 날 밤 거리에서 노상방뇨를 하다가 락카를 이용해 불법으로 스트리트 그래피티 그림을 그리는 남자를 발견한다. 김준(김범)이라는 사내인데 이 사내는 바로 사람이나 물건을 만져보면 그 사람과 물건에 얽힌 과거가 떠 오르는 능력을 지닌 일종의 초능력자인 ‘사이코메트리’였다. 양춘동 형사는 이 수상한 사내가 그린 벽화가 유괴되었던 아이의 시체가 발견된 곳을 그린 것이라는 뒤늦게 깨닫는다. 그리고 이 남자(김준)를 유력한 용의자로 보고 추적한다. 그러나 김준이 범인이 아니라는 것이 밝혀지고 수사과정에서 알게 된 한 소녀가 그 다음번 희생자가 된다.
양춘동은 김준을 추적하는 과정에서 김준이 자신이 가지고 있는 능력때문에 엄마를 죽게한, 그 역시 트라우마를 지닌 존재라는 것을 알게되고, 두 사람은 묘한 동질감을 느낀다. 영화는 이쯤에서 범인을 아주 쉽게 알려준다. 이 이야기는 ‘범인이 누구냐?’로 관객을 끌고 가지 않고 ‘어떻게 범인을 잡느냐?’ 하는 것을 보여 주는 길을 택한다.
양춘동 형사와 한 편이 된 김준은 자신의 사이코메트리 능력을 발휘하지만, 이 능력은 공짜가 아니다. 이 능력을 사용하는 것은 준 자신에게도 상당한 내상과 에너지를 소비하게 하는 것이다. (그는 능력을 너무 많이 사용하면 기절하거나 코피를 쏟는다)
두 남자는 죽을 위기를 겪으며 범인을 찾아내고 무사히 아이의 목숨을 구한다. 이 과정에서 스스로의 사이코메트리 능력을 저주하던 김준은 ‘사람을 죽이는 손이 아니라, 사람을 살리는 손’ 이라는 자기 치유를 얻는다. 이 영화는 적당한 오락거리로의 완성도는 있지만, 많은 한국 영화가 그렇듯 철저한 장르물이 되기보다는 적당한 코미디를 섞은 코믹 릴리프를 하는 상업적 타협을 했다. 그런 결과로 나온 김강우의 양춘동 캐릭터는 의외로 잘 어울렸다. 그러나 우연의 남발, 사이코메트리로써의 김준의 고뇌 등이 좀 미약하지 않았나 싶다. <평행이론> <어느 날 갑자기> 등 호러 장르를 주로 만드는 권호영 감독의 네 번째 장편 상업영화이다.
